April outdoor activities for families

I didn’t even bother posting this yesterday, knowing that every blog post on April 1 is suspect. But here’s a few things going on in April. The list is light this time…it’s like folks don’t plan outside events in April because they aren’t sure of the weather. Huh. Weird.

(As always, this is not a comprehensive list, just what’s come across my desk in the last few weeks. If you know of something happening, share it below in the comments! Also, I’m not affiliated with these events, don’t complain to me if they are sold out, no fun, etc.)

April 4-5 Maine Audubon is holding a Wild Theatre workshop at Fields Pond. Drop your kids off for a theater workshop and outside time, come back for a performance. More information

April 11-12 BDN Maine Garden Show Come bask in the glory of spring! Inside! Where it’s predictable! Lots of beautiful things to look at and smell as well as a children’s area. More information

April 25 Friends of Acadia is hosting their annual roadside clean-up, assuming we can find the roadsides by then. Earn yourself some good outdoor karma and have a good time, too. Last year my daughter crowned herself Queen of the Cans. More information

Really, this was about all I could find. I must be missing something big. What is it? Let me know.

About Cherie Galyean

In a perfect world, Cherie Galyean would spend hours every day chasing her kids up hiking trails, pretending to garden, and baking things. Instead, she works full-time in the non-profit sector and fits those other things in-between loads of laundry in her free time. A Maine native with multiple hometowns, she currently lives on Mount Desert Island with her husband, seven-year-old daughter, five-year-old son, and the best shelter mutt in the world.
